IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT!!!
Our competitor, Verizon Airfone, which provides the Magnastar(R) units with connectivity has announced that it will discontinue its service no earlier than December 31, 2007 unless a buyer for their business is found. Their service, which operates at 800 MHz frequencies, will eventually be subject to cancellation, as the FCC auctioned the 800 MHz channels to other users.

This move DOES NOT AFFECT THE AGRAS/FLITEFONE NETWORK THAT WE OPERATE, which operates at 450 MHz.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT FLITEFONE:

The AGRAS network of ground stations, strategically located in the US and Canada, provides seamless coverage to business and private aircraft equipped with compatible telephones. The Wulfsberg Flitefone VI is the most widely used aircraft telephone ever manufactured. We are an FCC-licensed Common Carrier network.

Using the AGRAS direct-dial stations, you can make direct-dial calls from the air to any telephone in the world. You can also be dialed from any telephone in the world. Simply pickup the handset, enter the number and our network does the rest!

Coverage extends offshore 200 miles or more, and well into Canada and Mexico.

Unlike other services, AGRAS stations and aircraft units are permanently licensed by the FCC on exclusive dedicated air-ground frequencies for interference-free communications and no-wait connections. Our licenses are NOT "developmental" nor "experimental", which can be terminated at any time. Our channels are not shared with other services. THIS PROTECTS YOUR INVESTMENT!

You are responsible for purchasing and installing an AGRAS-compatible telephone aboard your aircraft. Once installed (or if you have purchased an aircraft already equipped), please call our National Accounts Office at 1-800-552-4727 to obtain an aircraft telephone number assignment, which is $90 per year, billed at $7.50 per month. There is also a one-time account setup fee.

An FCC license for the aircraft unit is no longer required (as of July 2005) so activation can be immediate. Note, however, that pursuant to FCC rule changes, "manual" service (calls placed by or through an operator) is no longer available in the US (Canada manual service continues). You must have a direct-dial version of the Flitefone to make or receive calls.

Calls made or received over the AGRAS network are billed at various rates ranging from $2.45 per minute (plus LD charges), to a maximum of $4.65 per minute (including toll charges to US or Canada phone numbers), and depend on which ground station you are using and when. There is no "per-call set-up charge". Full tariff details can be obtained from our credit office.

The largest American distributor of new and reconditioned Flitefones is TESTA AVIONICS ENTERPRISES in North Carolina. They normally have Flitefones in stock for immediate delivery. Contact Ray Testa at 910-255-0577.
